A Glance at Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms

A Glance at Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms

Chances are that if you’re into video games you may be into the medieval fantasy swordfighty thing. If you are into that kind of thing then most likely you get the shivers when you go more than a week without some Game of Thrones, the critically acclaimed HBO hit. Now there are plenty of ways for you to get your Westeros fix: You can watch clips online, buy the season on DVD, pay for that new game that’s been buzzing around or wait for the next show. Well I have some good news gamers because our friends at Bigpoint are bringing us a way to always have Westeros no more than a click away.

Many of you may know the name Bigpoint from some of their other games. The most notable to date being Battle Star Galactica online (big fan myself, you can catch me fracking up some Cylons almost every weekend) a high-speed space shoot’em up with some of the best browser graphics I have had the chance to see. So I was a little more than excited to hear that this great skill was going to be used to bring the feud between the seven families to our computers, FOR FREE!! That, ladies and gentlemen is not a typo. The good people over at Bigpoint are working on making this installment of Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms not only a great MMO but also free-to-play.

Now you too can jump right into the land of Westeros weaving your own story while dishing out noble levels of bad-assery and awesomeness. Ever felt the urge to take matters into your own hands and try to end the petty civil war between the nobles? Go ahead and do it! Think you can take on any warrior in the kingdom? Give it your best try! But be careful, because you my fair sir or madam won’t be the only one. Remember one wrong move and Lord Pwnsalot from Kentucky will wipe the beautifully rendered landscape with you tattered remains.

Of course with every silver lining there has to be a crappy cloud, this silver linings cloud is the fact that this is indeed a browser game. Some fear that Bigpoint may not be able to deliver on those beautiful graphics but I feel it’s much too early to start fearing especially when This group has a graphical powerhouse like Battlestar Galactica online out there.

In conclusion I would like to propose that we all add this to our watch lists. As time passes and the launch date (whenever it’s announced) draws nearer we can begin to judge. But for now I’m just trying to figure out if I’m going full on loin cloth and maces or heavy plate and broadsword. I’m honestly leaning well toward the loin cloth; I hear it gives plus 10 charisma.
