Our good buddies at Dark Horse have once again succeeded in getting our Geek attention by announcing a new Tyrion Lannister statue from Game of Thrones. The new collectible comes in at 10″ high and 9.5″ across the base and features Geek Smash’s favorite character from Game of Thrones, Tyrion Lannister. Other details include his helmet cast aside and his battle-axe at the ready. Release date on these is February 20, 2013, with a suggested retail price of $199.99.

“Those are brave men knocking on our door. Let’s go kill them.” – Tyrion Lannister

Writer/producers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss were consulted to determine the most “statueworthy” moment in the then-unaired Season 2 of Game of Thrones. The two chose the memorable scene when Tyrion, as portrayed by Peter Dinklage, charges into battle, leading the defense of King’s Landing against an assault by King Stannis Baratheon in the Battle of the Blackwater. They used photos taken on the set that were specifically angled for use in the future as references for sculptures or toys.

“When Dark Horse Deluxe began developing a new line of collectibles based on the HBO® adaptation of Game of Thrones, we were pleased to discover we had the full attention of all involved, from the team at HBO Global Licensing to the principals steering in the production,” said Dark Horse’s VP of Product Development, David Scroggy. “The Tyrion statue is a benefit of that communication, and we know the fans and collectors will recognize the quality that is the result.”

Each statue will be hand painted and uniquely numbered for collectible authenticity. The Game of Thrones Tyrion Lannister statue will come packaged in a deluxe full-color box.
