10 Reasons There NEEDS to be a ‘Dredd’ Sequel
[box_light]6) Walter the Robot[/box_light]
There are rumors the next film would be more about Dredd’s past. Either way the story goes, we need to see Walter the Robot. Drokkin’A, imagine Zach Galifianakis voicing the speech impaired loyal servant of Dredd, er Dwedd, as Walter would say. That’s pure comedic relief for the ultra-violent world of Judge Dredd.
Walter starts out as a food dispenser bot at the Hall of Justice. But later is freed by Dredd and then promptly chooses to be Judge Dredd’s personal servant. This would be a great way to give some more depth to Dredd and seeing just a little into his personal life (pretty much where he sleeps). Walter always served as both a comedic relief and device for showing the slimmest bit of Dredd’s human side. Walter is far more emotional than Dredd. I wish there would have been at least a slight reference to Walter in “Dredd.”
[box_light]5) Cursed Earth Saga[/box_light]
Judge Dredd meets “Mad Max.” Need I say more? According to GeekSmash Editor-in-Chief Jeff Grantz, I do need to say more…
Much more than his training days, I would rather see Dredd traverse the Cursed Earth to save Mega-City 2. The story follows Dredd as he takes a vaccine to plague-riddled MC-2. It was the first “Epic” tale in the 2000 AD comics. This would be a great way to show the mutos. And it might be a creative way to keep the budget down. Get some broken down vehicles and have Dredd being chased by some weird looking mutants.
Cast someone like Sam Rockwell as his sidekick for this story, Spikes, and Bingo bongo, you got yourself a smash hit.
