LINE Webtoon

Challenge

LINE Webtoon is a webcomic curator who pride themselves on being the home of thousands of creator-owned comics, manga, and manhwa, and being instrumental in launching the careers of many comic creators. Webtoon believes that comics are for everyone and should be free for everyone as well. Consistently at the top of the charts in app stores in terms of number of downloads, Webtoon was already a popular comic reading service. Their challenge was to increase awareness of the app and increase readership of their titles. GeekSmash was brought on to increase Webtoon app downloads and new account sign-ups.

Strategy

Our strategy was to run back-to-back dedicated video campaigns over two waves focusing on select titles, which would increase traffic to their site and downloads of their app. The first campaign was geared toward a diverse viewership and utilized more mainstream YouTubers with larger follower counts. The ideas was to spread the interest range out and test who converted the most downloads.

For the second wave, we used our data from the first to zero in on anime, comicbook, and manga focused YouTubers that matched the highest performing interest group.

We were fully engaged the entire campaign and kept transparent reporting. We even rolled up our sleeves and helped the YouTubers with ideas and provided support to insure a smooth experience for both parties.

Results

The first wave gave us raw data to use while still generating above expectation clicks and conversions. After tweaking the second wave, the results literally doubled, leaving the client in great shape for future campaigns.
